Participants will concentrate on transforming their manuscript into a page-turner.
Limited Enrollment – 7 participants per session

Location: Margie’s log home at the top of Coal Creek Canyon
-- 30 minutes from Boulder, 45 from Denver -- Transportation is provided from Denver International Airport to Margie's home . . . and back. At times, the class will be held on the deck, with a view over the canyon. During the lunch break, participants may walk in the National Forest Land fifty yards from Margie’s home, arm wrestle each other for one of the hammocks, or relax in Adirondack chairs,
feet up, head back, and take in the view.
Margie will snap her Deep Editing whip and get participants energized when it’s time to focus, focus, focus. :-)))
Prerequisites: Two on-line courses or Lecture Packets:- Empowering Characters’ Emotions
- Deep Editing: The EDITS System, Rhetorical Devices, and More
NOTE: Even if you have attended ECE or Deep Editing in a full day master class, it is important for you to have covered all the material offered in these two lectures prior to attending the Immersion class. You can take ECE and Deep Editing on-line or complete the Lecture Packets.
Requirements: Bring a minimum of 150 pages (hard copy), or a full manuscript (hard copy)
Expect to work for three full days dissecting, analyzing, and deep editing
Process: Margie will offer a review of her Deep Editing techniques and analysis of bestselling authors. Emphasis shifts to help writers dissect their work, analyze scenes, and deep edit for psychological power. A writer’s voice and style remain intact, while psychological power is enhanced.
Goals:
Total immersion in Deep Editing techniques and systems, including:
- Writing the full range of Body Language and Dialogue Cues

- Motivation Reaction Units
- The Edits System
- One Sentence Analysis
- 30 Rhetorical Devices
- The Four Levels of Powering Up Emotion
- Margie’s Five Question Scene Check List
- Master Deep Editing Check List
No worries! Margie provides review sheets for each topic.
Participants will analyze and apply Deep Editing strategies to their scenes in layers, with hands-on direction and Deep Editing critique from Margie.
FEE: $450 – for registrations received 60+ days before the session
$500 – for registrations received less than 60 days before the session
The fee includes:
- The Kick-off Dinner, night of arrival
- Four Breakfasts
- Three Lunches
- Brain-food snacks, fitness snacks, and comfort snacks
Please inform Margie of special dietary needs. Group dinners at restaurants are not included in the fee.

Day 1:

6:45 -- Dinner in the mountain town of Nederland -- a 20 minute drive from Margie’s home (transportation provided)
Day 2:
8:00 – 8:45: Breakfast and Goals Plan of Day
8:45 – 12:00: Deep Editing Power
12:00 – 12:45: Lunch and Learn (Keep working through lunch)
12:45 – 4:00: Deep Editing Power
4:00 – Drive to Boulder (transportation provided)
4:30 – In Boulder, participants take turns:
- Exploring the open air pedestrian mall on Pearl Street.
- Pursuing individual Deep Edit reviews of manuscripts with Margie at a coffeehouse on Pearl St.
